Is there more than one Cottage at Winterwood?
No, there is only one. Unlike any other Beaver Lake lodging, we offer complete privacy.

Are you a Bed & Breakfast?
Yes and no. Winterwood Lakeside Cottage is a Beaver Lake vacation home / bed & basket. When you check into the cottage you will be provided with a selection of fresh organic fruits, breads, snacks, juices, coffees and teas. There is a gourmet kitchen in the cottage where guest may prepare meals for themselves on their own schedule.

How many people can stay in the cottage?
Eight, comfortably. There are four bedrooms. Two of the rooms have queen beds and the others have either a bunk bed (with upper and lower bunks custom built to accommodate adults or children) or two twin beds. See the Accommodations page for details.

Do you allow children at Winterwood?
Finding a Eureka Springs cabin or Beaver Lake lodging that will accept children can be difficult. Most of the time we are happy to accept children but, you must have prior approval.

The "levels" that you talk about on your site are confusing. Can you explain this for me?
Winterwood Lakeside Cottage is a little different than any other Arkansas cabin or Beaver Lake resort. Because the cottage is built on the side of a mountain, there are three "floors" that we refer to as "levels." When you enter the cottage you are on the Mid-Level. The Upper Level has a queen bedroom, a bedroom with two twin beds that can be added on to your accommodations, a kitchen, eating area, livingroom, bath and a lakeside veranda. Directly below the Upper Level is the Mid-Level which has a lakeside bunk room as well as a private bath. The two bunk beds in this room were custom built to accommodate adults or children. Beneath the Mid-Level is the Lower Level where there is another lakeside bedroom (queen) and its own bath. The Upper Level twin bedroom, Mid and Lower Levels are "add on only" which means you must book the Upper Level first before being able to "add" either the Upper twin room, Mid or Lower Level(s). If you only require the Upper Level, the remaining levels will be locked, you will not be charged for them and no one else will use them ... you will have the cottage to yourself.

Will there be anyone else in the cottage with us?
No.

Do you have a hot tub?
Yes and no. There is no hot tub as such, however, a standard size bathtub that accommodates one and that is equipped with Jacuzzi style water jets is provided in the master bath on the Upper Level. Therapeutic baths may be enjoyed in complete privacy. If you are looking for a heart shaped hot tub in your room such as other Eureka Springs lodging might offer, we are not for you.

Does the cottage have air conditioning?
Yes.

Is there a fireplace?
Almost every Ozark Mountain cabin rental has a fireplace. We offer you a cozy gas burning, Vermont Castings stove with a visible flame.

Is there a TV and a Stereo?
There are two TVs and two DVD players that are provided as well as a small selection of DVDs. Due to the mountains, there is no TV reception off the air or from cable. If you wish to enjoy TV, please bring your own programing or plan on choosing from our limited selection of movies. A stereo CD player / radio is also provided.

Does Winterwood have Internet hook up?
Yes, most of the time. The Winterwood Lakeside Cottage communicates with the business office in another building via WiFi. This system then is connected to the Internet through a satellite and, on clear days, works quite well. If you have WiFi in your laptop, bring it with you - in most cases it will work okay. Be sure to ask us about signing on.

Will our cell phone work at Winterwood?
Depending on who your carrier is, cell phones normally work well from the living room or outside deck. Verizon works better than AT&T at this location.

Is there a landline telephone available?
Yes. Local calls are free. You must have a long distance card for all other calls. Cards are available for sale at the office.

Does the cottage have a laundry facility?
Not at this time.

Do you allow pets?
No. We don’t know of any Beaver Lake lodge that accepts pets.

Do you allow smoking?
No smoking is allowed in the cottage.

Do you allow candle burning?
No. Most Beaver Lake cabins as well as this Beaver Lake cottage are a long way from a fire department.

Do you allow incense burning?
No. You might enjoy incense but the guests who come in after you may not.

Is the cottage handicap friendly?
No. Winterwood Lakeside Cottage is a three story structure with stairs. Additionally, there are a number of steps leading to and from the dock and swimming area.

How far is the cottage from Eureka Springs?
Twenty-five minutes by car. Eureka Springs has no lakefront property. Winterwood is as close to the Eureka Springs attractions as one can be if one wishes to stay on Beaver Lake.

How far is Winterwood from the lakeshore?
Winterwood has 3/4 mile of private lakeshore and it only takes five minutes to walk to the water's edge from your front door. The cottage is built on the side of a mountain about a hundred feet above the water and offers an unobstructed view of Beaver Lake. There are eighty-nine wooden steps that traverse the mountainside before taking you across a suspension bridge to the dock and swimming area. If you are considering any other Beaver Lake cottage, Beaver Lake cabin or Beaver Lake lodging, be certain to ask if they are truly lakefront or simply “lake view.”

How far is Winterwood Lakeside Cottage from Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art?
There are a few different ways to drive to Crystal Bridges. The shortest route takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes. It’s a fantastic museum and well worth your time.

Can we swim in the lake?
Yes. Beaver Lake is a wonderful swimming lake. Winterwood, however, has no life guard so you must swim at your own risk. Once again, if you are thinking about any other Beaver Lake cottage, Beaver Lake cabins or Beaver Lake lodging, be sure to ask if they are lakefront or simply “lake view.”

I see on your site there is a recording studio at Winterwood. Will it interfere with our stay?
No. The Winterwood gold and platinum award wining studio is an independent business and is located in a separate building on the Winterwood Estate more than two minutes from the cottage.

Is it possible for us to have a tour of the studio during our stay at the cottage?
Depending on the workload of the Studio at the time of your visit, it will most likely be possible to arrange a tour. Unfortunately, however, there are no guarantees. Please ask at check in - we will do everything possible to accommodate you.

Do you have to be a musician or artist to stay at Winterwood?
Although a great number of the folks who stay at the cottage are musically inclined, you can stay at Winterwood even if you can't carry a tune in a bucket.

How much does it cost to stay at the cottage?
The cost depends onwhether you come during in season or not, the number of levels you require, the number of people in your party and the number of nights you wish to stay. Detailed Rate Information can be found on our Rates & Reservations page.

Do you offer discounts or packages?
Not at this time.

Do you have Gift Certificates available?
Yes

Is there a minimum stay that is required?
As is the case for most Eureka Springs Arkansas lodging, we have some restrictions. There is a two night minium stay that is required except for holidays such as Memorial Day, the 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years when there is a three night minimum.

Is there a cancellation policy at Winterwood?
Yes there is. This policy is strictly enforced and is provided on our Policies page found under the Rates & Reservations.

How do I make a reservation?
Please call the reservation office at 479.253.2530. There is usually someone here to accept your call but, should you be greeted by an answering machine, please leave all the necessary information including the dates you have in mind and the number of people in your party. Be certain to speak clearly and leave your phone number(s) two times so we will be sure to understand you. We check our messages several times daily and will return your call the same day. Please be patient...It will be worth your wait.
